digital projection, mason jars, wooden shelves,
Photographic documentation is all I have left of the contents of two small boxes of my grandfathers seemingly treasured possessions. This piece is an exploration in both preserving memories and in the stories a viewer can extrapolate through various arrangements of artifacts.
Memory Preserves consists of a wall of 45 jars in which artefacts are projected (with a 35mm slide projector). Their delicate and holographic nature are preserved in a jar, only to be interrupted by the viewers shadow as they attempt to approach the work.
