Initially inspired by Colette Urban’s 1989 piece a song to sing, a tale to tell, a point to makeArm in Arm revisits Urban’s representation of women’s roles from a contemporary mindset. In contrast to Urban’s silent and feminine character who struggles for power in the world, this androgynous character has a voice, power and agency, but at what cost? The audience is privy to observe the relationship and the eternal struggle between the protagonist and it’s burdening appendage as slowly it maneuvers itself around the space.
